“The terms of reference for the Surveillance, Investigation and Monitoring(SIM) unit will be intelligence gathering on substandard, fake and life endangering products throughout Nigeria. Data collection, collation, analysis and retention, maintenance of risk profile and register of substandard, fake and life endangering products are inclusive.

He charged the staff of the SIM unit that has been carefully chosen to prove their mettle in delivering on assignments, adding that, loyalty, transparency and preparedness to respond promptly are requisites for adjudging their effectiveness and efficiency.
Abolomaalso tasked the SIM Team on cooperation and collaboration with the Federal Operations and PAAR units of the Nigerian Customs Service and other security agencies on information and intelligence sharing feedback on matters of substandard, fake and life endangering products, amongst others.
