The Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE)Mr. Oscar Onyema, has pledged his support to the policy advocacy of the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI).
Onyema, while welcoming a delegation led by LCCI President, Mr.BabatundeRuwase, also reiterated the readiness of the NSE to partner with the LCCI in promoting SMEs by sourcing finance for their sustainability and viability.
Onyema said the time has come for SMEs in the country to approach the market with the view to raising capital for their operations.
He added that the NSE will continue to ensure the integrity of listed companies in order to boost investors’ confidence in the market.
The high point of the visit was the ringing of the closing gong by the LCCI’s President, Mr.Babatunde Paul Ruwase at about 2:30pm to mark the end of trading activities at the floor of the Exchange.
Earlier, LCCI President said that the essence of the visit was to seek collaboration with the Nigeria Stock Exchange to promote private sector development and the advancement of the Nigerian economy.
“It is our belief that the NSE and the LCCI are major stakeholders in the Nigerian Economy. We have a lot to do together to making things happen,” he said.
“There are several other areas in which we can collaborate especially in sharing information. It is our hope that this interaction will occur more frequently so that together we can deliberate on response strategies to emerging challenges in the economy,” he said.
