Cadbury Nigeria Plc yesterday announced that it has won two awards for its commitment to workplace safety and corporate social responsibility (CSR).
In a statement, the Director, Corporate and Government Affairs, West Africa, Mr. Bala Yesufu, said the Company’s Ondo Plant received an award for its Excellent Safety Culture.
According to Yesufu, the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF) and the Nigeria Employers Consultative Association (NECA) gave the award to the Ondo Plant under the Safe Workplace Intervention Project (SWIP), at an event that took place in Lagos Thursday.
“The recognition and reward came in form of an ambulance vehicle. Our Ikeja Plant won a similar award in 2013. We remain committed to promoting safety in the workplace and delivering value for our various stakeholders,” Yesufu said.
He opined that Cadbury also received an award for its commendable corporate social responsibility (CSR), recently, at the 2018 Annual Compliance and Green Awards ceremony, organised by the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA). These awards, he noted, would further strengthen the Company’s reputation as a world-class organisation.
Yesufu added that as part of the Company’s repositioning drive, it has invested a lot in its human capital, pioneered some innovation in the industry, and acquired new world-class technology, to enable it maintain its winning streak.
Cadbury Nigeria unveiled its new fully automated $50million state-of-the-art Bournvita plant in Agidingbi, Lagos, in 2015. The plant has increased its production capacity and efficiency.
