Dr. Paul Angya, retired Director, Corporate Affairs and SON Consult has been commended for adding to the body of knowledge in standardisation from the legal perspective with the authorship of a book on “Standardization and Quality Regulation in Africa: Institutions and Legal Frameworks”.
This commendation was given by the Director- General, Osita Aboloma at the send forth gathering for Dr. Angya upon his voluntary retirement from service after 18 years at the Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) Corporate Headquarters, Abuja.
Represented by the Director, DG’s office, Barrister Richard Agu, the SON Chief Executive described the retiring Director as a utility player given his sojourn through the Legal Department, Human Resources Department, the Council Secretariat and the Corporate Affairs and SON Consult Directorate.
He congratulated Dr. Angya on a successful career in SON, which saw him perform as the Director General/Chief Executive in acting capacity and wished him well in future endeavours on behalf of the Management and staff.
The SON Chief Executive stated that the Management and Staff would hold fond memorie of Dr. Angya’s times in SON which he described as “the University of standardisation in Nigeria. Also speaking at the occasion, Director Legal Services, Barrister Umaru Kawu commended Angya for his valuable contributions to the organisation and prayed for his success in the future endeavours.
In his own contributions, Director Human Resources Management Mr. Usman Abdulkadir extoled the retiring Angya on his legacies in promoting staff welfare as Director, Human Resources management as well as acting Chief Executive.
Responding, Dr. Paul Angya expressed appreciation to the Director – General, in particular as well as the management and entire staff of SON for all the support he got during his service to the Nation through the organisation.
He was emphatic about the DG’s encouragement and support without which he could not have endeavoured to contest a political office in his state of origin.
Angya urged the Management to empower the Corporate Affairs and SON Consult Directorate to fulfil its great potentials to the organisation.
