“IN Nigeria, we have done some intervention projects in Lagos, Kano and Benue State in partnership with African Industries Group, Airtel Nigeria Limited and Chellarams Plc and many other organisations in the country.”
Rtn. Rajkumar Gulati, President, Rotary Club of Lagos Island (RCLI) District 9110, stated this during African Industries Blood Donation Camp at Ogijo, Ogun State , where 150 of its staff donated blood to Lagos Blood Bank through the State’s Blood Transfusion Committee, LSBTC, as parts of their corporate social responsibility.
Speaking at the event, Rtn Gulati said “We belong to Rotary International, and as a humanitarian organisation participating in various activities to do well for society, RCLI have helped to treats polio, eyes –cataract and give medicated glasses; we have done eyes surgery camp in Kano.
In addition to this, we had done artificial limbs to the people who had lost their limbs in accidents; we have done so far 11 blood donation camps and this is our 12th blood donation camps.
“Our main purpose of doing Blood Donation Camp is to tell people in every country that there is no harm in giving blood; once you give blood, many diseases can be cured automatically.”
“There is shortage of blood in this country and Rotary feels we should help this society and so we discuss with our partners and experts to find sustainable solution,” he said.
Rtn Vipul Agrawal, the incoming President of RCLI, also lauded the success of the exercise, describing it in these words: “Simply amazing and extraordinary experience! African Industries and its people are true leaders in serving society.”
