LCCI tasks member firms to operate on strong corporate governance



“As we formally accept your organisation into the Lagos Chamber community today, I wish to underline the commitment of the Lagos Chamber to the cherished tradition of high ethical standards, integrity and
good corporate governance in business practice. ”

Mrs. Toki Mabogunje, President of LCCI, said today during its first ever virtual Membership Induction Ceremony of 75 companies into its fold.

She said that since the establishment of the Chamber in 1888 (132 years ago ), it had been thriving on strong corporate governance put in place by its founding fathers.

“As businessmen and women, we have obligations which transcend profit making. We should pay adequate attention to the integrity of our business transactions and practices.
“I urge you all to be committed to the ideals of high ethical standards and responsible corporate citizenships. Indeed, the Chamber has a code of business ethics to which all members are to subscribe,” she said.

Mrs. Mojisola Bakare, Vice President / Member, Chairman, Membership and Welfare Committee, told the inducted companies that the commitment of ” our founding fathers to a strong corporate governance framework and principle is one of the factors that help us to maintain the tempo of excellence and continue to push up the frontier of value to our esteemed stakeholders whilst remaining a role model to other chambers of commerce as well a positive reference to Business Membership Organisation movement in Nigeria.
