Business News

Mrs. Yemisi Izuora, the Publisher of Oriental News Nigeria Online, is our June guest.

As the saying goes, she was “No jack of all trades but master of none,” rather; she was professionally trained to succeed. And success comes your way when you are doing what you love or have passion for.

She tells her story: “I started my career as a journalist with Education Times, an education specialized publication.

Having trained in that establishment which I considered my starting point in the media space, I moved to a bi-monthly publication called Facts Finder, and later joined another Specialized publication called Transport Day Newspapers. It was at Transport Day Newspapers that I discovered my talent as an entrepreneur.

I believed in my ability to establish my own business in the media industry.

I trusted in my vocation as a career media entrepreneur to add value to the profession and at the same time be an employer of labour.

We struggled for recognition in different sectors, Money and Capital Markets, Oil and Gas Industry, Insurance and Pension, etc.

With that inspiration and determination and with the support of my husband who is a seasoned journalist, I ventured into online publication, even though at that time online was not fully accepted by organizations.

With the help of my husband who is my mentor, Oriental News was established in 2013.

Tough Beginning

It was not easy at the beginning, because people believed that anybody can be an online publisher, once you are familiar with social media.

We struggled for recognition in different sectors, Money and Capital Markets, Oil and Gas Industry, Insurance and Pension, etc.

And to the glory of God, we have not done badly, even though it could be better, we are not singing “Uhuru”yet, we believe in working hard to actualize the dream of making the platform the ‘Primus Inter Pares’, in the online media space.

We have 5 full reporters working with us.

Honing At Pan Atlantic University

I also wish to share my success with Chevron, a major oil company in Nigeria who through its Corporate Social Responsibility, CSR, sponsored me at one of the topmost Private Universities not only in Africa but globally, the Pan Atlantic University, PAU, School of Media Communication, (SMC).
