“The MTN Nigeria REVV programme’s aim of empowering over 10,000 MSMEs with digital literacy, aligns with the federal government’s drive for a digital Nigeria.”
Otunba Niyi Adebayo, the Minister of Industry , Trade, and Investment, stated this during the launch of the MTN Nigeria REVV Programme.
The Minister noted that no sector of the economy has felt the impact of COVID-19 pandemic harder than MSMEs which constitutes about 96% of the total number of enterprises and 48% of National GDP.”
“The effect of the global pandemic, the accompanying lockdown and the resultant halt in economic growth has affected businesses and livelihoods.
“That is why, in addition to the significant portion of intervention funds from the federal government, my ministry has launched several schemes to cushion the shock of the pandemic, by protecting and sustaining the income of vulnerable MSMEs,” he said.
In November 2019, President Mohammadu Buhari launched the National Digital Economy Policy and Strategy(NDEPS) with the aim to enable Nigeria become a leading player in the global digital economy and provide a catalyst to diversify the economy.
In March 2020, we launched the National Broadband plan and few weeks ago, this administration took steps to inaugurate the steering and implementation committees.
