The World Trade Organisation has delayed the announcement of Nigeria’s Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala as its new director-general after the United States raised concern about her selection as a consensus candidate after receiving the support of about two-thirds of voting member nations.

Key WTO ambassadors tapped Nigeria’s Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala Wednesday as the best pick to lead the organization, but she was opposed by Washington, who said it supported South Korean Trade Minister Yoo Myung-hee instead.
