LAGOS, Nigeria – Cadbury Nigeria Plc (a part of Mondelēz International) has won the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (CIPM)’s Award as a ‘People-First Organisation’ for its outstanding commitment and initiatives, deployed to support employee wellbeing during the COVID-19 pandemic.
CIPM is the formerst HR body in Nigeria.
Cadbury Nigeria’s Managing Director, Mrs. Oyeyimika Adeboye, also received an award as a ‘People-First CEO’ for her focus and support for the wellbeing of employees.

In a statement, which was issued by Frederick Mordi, the Company’s Corporate Communications and Government Affairs Manager for West Africa, the People First Health and Safety Awards was organised by the Institute in collaboration with the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH), its global partner, the chartered body and leading membership organisation for safety and health professionals all over the world.
The CIPM “People First Health and Safety Awards,” is a first-of-its-kind award, which was created specifically to recognise and celebrate the heroes and organisations that have put employees first during the 2020 year of the pandemic.
Speaking on the awards in the statement, Mrs. Adeboye said: “The COVID-19 pandemic challenged us to be more innovative in the way we worked and related with one another, particularly during the lockdown. We put our people first in every decision that we make, since they are our greatest assets.”
Mr. Wole Odubayo, Human Resources Director, Cadbury Nigeria, added that the recognition from CIPM attests to the company’s obust employee-centric HR processes, which are in line with global best practices.
“We will continue to improve on our existing employee engagement strategies to enable us to attract and retain the best talents, ensure the wellbeing and safety of all our employees, and supporting the business to deliver on its objectives,” he said.
Top Emploer in Nigeria / Employer of Choice
Cadbury Nigeria was also recently recognised as a Top Employer in Nigeria by the Amsterdam-based Top Employers Institute.
The Top Employers Institute’s programme certifies organisations based on the participation and results of their HR Best Practices Survey. Cadbury Nigeria excelled in the survey that covered six domains, namely: People Strategy, Work Environment, Talent Acquisition, Learning, Well-being, and Diversity and Inclusion.
Also, the Company won the ‘Employer of Choice’ (Under 1000 Employees), and ‘Outstanding Recruitment Strategy’ awards from the HR People’s Magazine, in 2019 and 2020.
