The Federal Government may have put all structures in place ahead of the 5G technology launch.
This is as Communications and Digital Economy Minister, Isa Pantami, confirms its deployment in Nigeria has been fixed for January 2022.
The launch, the Minister assured will aid surveillance against vandalism of public assets.
Pantami, disclosed this on Thursday, September 23, in Maiduguri at a Town Hall
Pantami said the 5G network was recently approved by the Federal Executive Council for increased connectivity, boost surveillance against criminal elements vandalising public infrastructure across the country.
The Minister said there were over 50,000 telecommunication sites across the country; which made it difficult to man manually except through deployment of modern technology as there have been about 16,000 reported outages by mobile network operators; MTN, Globacom, Airtel and also 9Mobile – from January 2021 to July 2021.
